One solution I found is to use an app called Procamera. I was very disappointed having come from a Pixel XL that took very detailed photos even when zoomed in. I think it's to do with the HEIC format and the file sizes being so low. Try it with a pic of a lawn and you'll see what I mean. Photos look great until you apply even the slightest bit of zoom, at which point they turn into an over processed mush that looks awful. The less lighting there is the higher the ISO which usually results in added graininess.
Google Photos reduce the resolution (if it's over 16MP which iPhone X photos are not as they're 12MP) but it doesn't compress the photos)-īut back to the your photo: I'm guessing the reason for the graininess is the mixed lighting in the image especially the fact that your dog is in the shadow.
If you using Google Photos- link to the image. Imgur compresses upload images so that image you've included may not be the best way for others to use to judge image quality.
